AccuQuilt baby quilt

It’s been a rough weekend. While updating my website and a couple of pages I managed to delete several things and unsure of how to get them back. Most is not important but the last couple of Put your foot down posts and a couple posts I was working on as I built quilts are gone. Totally gone. So anyone that linked up with me this past Thursday, “I am so sorry”. Thank you for linking up.

Disclosure-The products featured in this post were provided to me free of charge by Island Batik, Hobbs Batting,  and AccuQuilt. I do not get paid or earn a commission if you make a purchase.

A couple weeks ago I shared the above photo with the die cropped out. The Accuquilt GO! Nautical Medley is a new die that I got to play with before its release. My post went live Thursday on the AccuQuilt blog, for a tutorial/pattern see here.

The fabrics I chose to use were given to me by Island Batik as a 2019 Ambassador and I was saving them for the perfect project. They are so soothing to the eye and I really wanted to keep them around a bit longer. Quiet Shades was designed by Kathy Engle for Chris Hoover of Whirligig Designs.

I wanted to make a quilt that would be acceptable for any gender or age and I’m pretty confident I succeeded. The chain pinwheel, boat and applique shapes are pretty much acceptable for any age. The anchor, ships wheel or sailboat on the die could be applied to almost any household item or accessory.

The boat blocks and the hst for the pinwheel were made using the GO! Mix n Match 8″ Qube.

There are 3 main blocks in the quilt. See below.islandbatik, islandbatikambassador, fortheloveofgeese, accuquilt, accuquiltnauticalmedley, nauticalbabyquilt

Blanket stitched around the anchors.

Due to not paying attention I had to make 2 quilts. The first one on the left, 3 of the chain blocks were going in the wrong direction and I didn’t notice it until it was quilted and bound. Its okay though because I ended up two great quilts.

I used Hobbs Cotton batting and MicroQuilter thread.

  1. Beautiful baby quilts. I didn’t even notice anything going the wrong way – creative license is what I say when that happens in one of my quilts! It gives me joy to gift a baby quilt. Hope yours are used and loved by some little ones. Good job!

  2. Hi Denise, your quilts look great. I understand how you would want the quilt on the AccuQuilt website to be perfect, but I really love the other one and most people would not notice. You did a really great job of designing it. So sorry to hear about your website. At least you know what you did wrong and can avoid that mistake again! Thanks for linking up to Free Motion Mavericks. You have a great finish 🙂

    1. Thank you Andree and thank you for the linky party. Both of my mishaps were equally disappointing. With the first quilt though, I know to check block direction before stitching so if I could kick myself in the rear I would.

    1. Thank you. The purple is my favorite too and most people wouldn’t notice the block position mishap. Since it was going on the AccuQuilt website though I felt it really needed to be correct. Thank you for stopping by.

  3. Sorry to hear you had computer/blog troubles. What a pain! On the up side, the new die looks terrific and you did a lovely job with the quilts. I actually like the chains being in the wrong direction… pity you didn’t “mess up” all four chains, then they would have been a design feature. 🙂

  4. Hi Denise! I would say the wind was just blowing in a different direction in that area. Both quilt tops look fabulous. Those fabrics are so nice and soft looking, just perfect for a baby quilt and definitely not gender specific. I love how you added the anchors in each corner. I know someone will really enjoy receiving these, and wrapping their sweet little one in all of your love that you stitched into both pieces. ~smile~ Roseanne

      1. So sorry about your blog! I hope you find those missing posts soon. Meanwhile you have not one but two lovely quilts! Thanks for sharing on Wednesday Wait Loss.
