Another design from a mosaic floor
Sometimes deciding which quilt to make next can be stressful. I’ve worked on several designs this past year and have two that are my favorites. Both are medallions. The first one i cannot decide on color placement. Its medallion is a compass that I discovered while searching explorers maps for inspiration. The skill and art that went into drawing these maps is astounding,
The second design needed an additional border to make it a full size quilt.
The design that required an additional border won the tug of war. It’s a design who’s inspiration comes from the Cosmati Pavement in Westminster Abbey. You can view a clear image here. Of course I added flying geese (goes without saying), a snails tail border and a center floral medallion. All of which can be found on ancient mosaic floors.
The fabric I have chosen are 7 shades of batiks, all blue. Yep, even my background fabric will be blue. A colored background fabric is rare for me because I love the vintage look and feel of an unbleached muslin. Depending on your age you may have childhood memories of climbing into bed with line dried crisp cotton sheets. That is where my muslin takes me, back to childhood memories. Times of less stress.
12 of 32 strips for the medallion completed. I need to learn to remove loose threads prior to taking photos. My plan is to finish the medallion before the week is over. This quilt will most likely be my last quilt of the year.

It coming along much quicker than I thought. Thanks for stopping by.
This one finished a while ago, you can view it here if you haven’t found it. https://fortheloveofgeese.com/2018/12/14/tulip-mosaic-complete-and-giveaway/ Thank you for spending the time to look around.
Like your other designs, this will be beautiful I’m sure! That blue color scheme is classic and so are floor tiles. Lovely inspiration! Thanks for linking to Wednesday Wait Loss.
Thank you Jennifer
This looks very interesting, and I’m very curious to see the entire unit, and the quilt. I’ll be watching over the next few weeks.
The medallion is half completed. I was hoping to have it completed by Sunday night. But with housework, grocery shopping and a trip to the fabric store tomorrow it will be close. Thank you for stopping by and the opp to share it in your linky party.
Blue batiks are so pretty. Looking forward to seeing more of this as it comes together! Thanks for sharing on Main Crush Monday. 🙂
I think so too and there are so many to chose from.

Thank you Bambi for the linky party and for stopping by.
I can’t wait to see what you come up with. I think the blues will be lovely.
I hope so. Thank you Cherie
This is going to be beautiful. I’m trying to figure out just how you do this…definitely not my skill set!!!
Fortunately I am only taking part of the design from the floor for my quilt. Perhaps one day when time and nerves allow I will make it as you see in the photo.
