Floating diamonds finish and pattern

Some of the products featured on this site were provided to me free of charge by Island Batik, Hobbs Batting, Aurifil , AccuQuilt, ByAnnie and Schmetz Needles.
This was such a fun quilt to make. I’d planned on having it bound and hanging outside for a photo but I have been under the weather almost a week now. Getting better but feeling exhausted.
Island Batik sent a Gradient bundle to use in the January Ambassador Challenge from which I made a Bargello quilt. You can see the post and list of fabrics here. All fabrics are from their Foundations Collection and can be purchased throughout the year.

There was roughly an 8″ piece from each fat quarter so I decided to make another quilt to finish them off. The black solid, also an Island Batik really made these bright colors pop don’t you think?

Patchwork Pattern

The pattern is for a 38″ x 38″ quilt with 8″ finished blocks but you can add as many blocks as you like, just don’t forget you will also have to add additional yardage. Strip piecing makes is go together quick and you could also use AccuQuilt strip dies, which is what I did. The blocks are so simple that even a beginner will have fun.

Material Used
For batting I used Hobbs PolyDown. They also have a PolyDown fiberfill that is great for stuffing.
Aurifil Thread for piecing and quilting.

Schmetz Needles in my domestic.

I love the floating diamonds, Denise!! Absolutely gorgeous on the black!
Thanks Brenda, it is more lovely in person. Black never photographs well for me.
Hi Denise! I just LOVE the black background on this quilt. It sure does let those jewel tone fabrics shine and pop. Great job. {{Hugs}} ~smile~ Roseanne
Hello my friend, thank you. hopefully I can get a good finished photo outside soon.
What a fun design. Since you made two, maybe I don’t have to make mine? LOL! I’m just finishing up my magazine projects today. I hope to film my video this morning and finally begin the gradations project this afternoon! Have a fabulous day!
Well sure, I would have sent this one to you if you needed it. My video is ready to go, so glad I got that done. My room is a mess and looks deserted but all fabrics are put away. i have 2 blocks to make for my sew along before next week and I haven’t started on my AQ project for March. Hopefully I feel better soon.
The quilt is beautiful! I love how the fabrics glow with the black background! Thanks for the pattern, going to download now.
Thank you Gretchen and you’re welcome. I cant believe I don’t use more black for background fabric because I love it when I do. These were great fabrics for the black.
I downloaded what I thought would be pattern with instructions of cutting sizes, however only a picture of the finished quilt is what came. Are there cutting instructions for this pattern? Tried email listed in download notice, came back as could not find address. Thank you, Sharon
Please try again
Nice pattern. Makes me think of playing cards. Thank you.
If you downloaded, try again. The first time was only the cover.
The dark background really makes the sunshine shades of the gradient bundle pop! I love it!
Thank you so much
