Good news and butterflies

The butterfly quilts are coming along. With 2 loaded on the frame and almost complete I will have time for a breather prior to loading #3. Click on photos for expanded view.

All 3 quilts are alike but different. All have the same floral motif in the corner, they all have a variation of the same fabrics and they all have the same butterflies.  The quilting is/will be different on each one. For quilt 1 I opted for heavily quilting feathers with pebbles in the negative space. My pebbles are improving.  You can see them well in the second photo, look at the take up bar for a tiny back view.  Quilt #2 I decide to echo the butterflies. As much as I love feathers I am leaning towards liking quilt 2 the best with the simple quilting. For quilt #3, I’ve not decided what to do with the quilting.

Now for good news

Island Batiks has accepted me as one of their 2019 Ambassadors. It’s been such an exciting weekend for me and a real struggle not to share the news before now.  The official email hadn’t been sent and FedEx beat them to the punch with a delivery update, which by the way should be today. Initially I thought it the email was spam because I had not ordered anything. Nothing FedEx would be delivering anyway. When the second email arrived I decided to take a look.  There it was, 2019 Ambassadors Program Box 1.

My initial response, “OMG, does this mean…?” In all honestly with the holidays, Craftsy dropping my patterns, searching for a new pattern outlet and creating an Etsy store, ripping carpet and painting my new sewing room,  moving my sewing room, painting additional rooms in the house, planning 3 baby girl quilts, and the 1 year anniversary of my mothers death I had forgotten about applying. (wow that was a mouthful) Which is probably a good thing considering all the other stressors going on. January 3rd will no longer be a day of sorrow, I can now associate that day with good news as well.

My second response, I cried. Now know that I do not cry. Well rarely. At my mothers funeral, I did not cry. No I am not a psychopath, I just handle stress and grief differently than most. My reasoning for the good cry, I work from home and aside from Enzo I am pretty much alone all day. I receive this wonderful news via FedEx and I have no one to call to share it with. Everyone is working. It was just such a welcoming surprise and not at all what I had expected my day to be when I fell out of bed that morning. The stress of the last couple of weeks was nearing its boiling point and it was like a bucket of water dousing the fire.

After the tears were shed I was reminded of something my step mother always said to me. You are a strong little girl and God would not give you more than you can carry. I’m not a religious person per se, I don’t attend church but I do believe in the higher power and prayer. That weight I had been carrying was lifted. I was also reminded that good things do happen to good people and they always happen to me after a trying time.

This was a good year to be accepted in the Ambassadors Program. While I can’t share with you just yet the bonus goody an Island Batik affiliate sent I can say it was very generous. That box arrived yesterday.

I am overwhelmed with joy and I hope you will follow my journey this year.
