Hello Monday
Progress continues on the commissioned quilt. I’m happy to report Pascal’s Triangle border blocks are complete, all 24 of them. For some reason I was thinking there were 28 blocks, maybe I was including the corners.
The center sections is pieced but I still have to join all the blocks. The photo above shows the layout of the border. Due to the lighting in my living room the fabric looks much darker than it is.
My SAS quilt is complete. I used to AccuQuilt Storm At Sea block on board die, the 6″ finished hst and 6″ finished qst dies from 12″ Mix and Match GO! Qube. A tutorial is coming to the AccuQuilt blog later this month.
Cutting the fabric was done quickly by using the Storm at Sea die. One other thing I found useful, use a post-its to label the cut blocks.
For fabric I chose blue’s from Timeless Treasure and it finishes pre-quilted at 60″ x 60″. I think the next one I make will be on point since that was my original plan for this one.
My sister really liked the design. So Labor Day weekend she stopped by and we cut her fabric. I think she was a little surprised at how quickly it all went. Anyway, she finished her top following my layout and is calling it Midnight Storm at Sea. I’m calling mine Tidal Wave.
My favorite quilt block blog hop
Today is the first day of the “My favorite quilt block blog hop”. The hop inspired me to make a quilt using a block I have drooled over for a long time. So I hope you will join me on my day, Friday to see what I have come up with. Until then, drop by each blog in the list below and leave a kind word. Don’t forget to come back Thursday for Put your foot down linky party to share what you have been working on.
Those Pascal’s Triangles are wonderful! They leave me wanting more. Can’t wait to see the middle of that quilt! Your Storm at Sea quilt will be beautiful I think. Love the colors you’ve chosen! Thanks for sharing on Wednesday Wait Loss.
The border on the commissioned quilt is stunning! Leaves me wanting more. I love how quickly you can cut or a quilt using accuquilt! Can’t wait to see your SAS version. Thanks for sharing on Wednesday Wait Loss.
Thank you, that means a lot coming from you. The quilting should be complete by next Wednesday just in time to link up to you.
Your Pascal’s Triangles are so precise and crisp! And I love the second version of your Storm at Sea – the change in mood through colour is profound. Thanks for linking to Colour & Inspiration Tuesday.
Thank you for the linky party Dione, I’ll pass your comment on the dark quilt to my sister.

Thank you, I love all the projects you share.
Very pretty quilt!

Pascal’s Triangle is a lovely design. It strikes me as a traditional Native American motif, with a contemporary twist. Is it an original design?
For the quilt block and layout, yes it is original. You can read more on Pascal’s Triangle https://www.livescience.com/51238-properties-of-pascals-triangle.html. I’m sorry I should have included a link or you can just google Pascal’s Triangle. The same design is carried over into the center of the quilt as well, with a twist. Stay tuned. Thank you for stopping by.
Ooh, I was just looking at the SAS BOB die on the Accuquilt site yesterday! Your quilt looks fantastic and your sister’s Midnight version does, too. I’ve had SAS on my bucket list for a long time, even bought fabric for a baby sized version but the ideas come faster than I can cut them out and sew them up, if you know what I mean. I’m looking forward to seeing your tutorial on the Accuquilt site!
I DO know what you mean. My first and only SAS (until now) was made several years ago with scraps. It came out a little muddy since the fabric was all dark. It can be seen on my finished quilts page. I think that quilt was the main reason I switched to paper piecing, it turned me against cutting fabric. So I was really excited to play with this die. If you’ve never made one before I highly recommend this die!!! Just an FYI, I don’t make any commission if you make a purchase. The quilt came together so quick and accurate. We cut my sisters fabric on Monday and by Wednesday she had all blocks pieced and ready to assemble the top, working a full time job besides. Mine took a little longer because I was snapping photos and taking notes. Thank you for stopping by.
Wow, what a difference the colors make! Both of them are gorgeous. That’s on my to do list, but it will have to wait, too many other things on my to-do!!
I know what you mean. Visiting blogs in the My favorite quilt block hop, I’ve created a new bucket list.
Hi Denise! You weren’t kidding when you said that your sister’s version of SAS looked so different. I think both of you picked perfect names for your versions – midnight is very fitting! ~smile~ Roseanne
Thank you Roseanne. It was so fun to make and spend time with my sister.
Lovely looking commission quilt! That border is stunning – it will be so much fun to see the interior.
Thank you, I love how it’s coming together.
The border is amazing! I can’t wait to see the finished top! I love the colors your sis chose and the name is perfect!!!!
Thank you. I will pass you compliment on to her.
