Here Comes the Sun Blog Hop

Here Comes The Sun
It had been a long winter and I welcomed joining this fun blog hop hosted by Carol of Just Let Me Quilt when she announced it. Carol’s hops are always fun and filled with inspiration. She has really connected a great group of bloggers. Thank you very much for organizing and hosting another wonderful hop.
My sunshine
One of the colors I want to use more of is yellow, it’s my favorite color but rarely makes it into my sewing room. I’ve been on the blue wagon recently and received this beautiful collection of blues in my January Island Batik Ambassador box called Snowsicle. Kathy Engle designed this for them and I am in love with the angels, doves and stars.

Snowsicle is shipping to shops this month just in case you love it as much as I do.

Cutting
Also, I was lucky enough to have received the 5″ Qube Set from AccuQuilt this spring and was trying to think so something I could make. Blue, yellow and a new Qube Set.

In the hoop embroidery
My new found love is machine embroidery and in the hoop applique is the bomb. If you haven’t tried it you really should. The great sunflowers I found on Kreative Kiwi as part of a runner pattern, for a buck!
For the Stems and Leave I used the AccuQuilt die and the bucket from their Summer Medley die.
Speaking of luck, my embroidery machines likes Aurifil Thread and that is what I used for stitching around the sunflowers.

Sunflower flimsy
My project is almost finished. The sunflowers are pinned for photo purposes and waiting for me to quilt it. Then I will attach the 3d sunflowers. A splash of yellow is always a beautiful addition to any shade of blue don’t you think?

How beautiful! Love the blues and the sunflowers go on it just perfectly! xx
I love the sunflowers!
Love your embroidered sunflowers. A great addition to this quilt. The first year I had my embroidery machine I had a goal of using it for every hop I participated in that year. It was a great challenge and I did complete it.
Blue and Yellow are one of my favorite color combos. Love the embroidered flowers!
I love sunflowers and yours are so pretty!
Gorgeous. Don’t you just love sunflowers; I do.
Yes I do, their are so big, sturdy and easy if you do not have a green thumb.
Your flowers definitely warm up the quilt. Yellow is such a great way to contrast blue to make a very pretty quilt.
For sure, thanks for stopping by.
Your embroidery is excellent. I am grateful to not be dipping into that yet because I know it will mean another craft obsession for me! I think the sunflowers look so professional. I’m very impressed. Thanks for sharing a cheery project.
Totally understand not wanting another addiction. It’s great though, you load your design and the machine stitches away while you work on something else.
Gorgeous. Love the fabrics you used in the sunflowers
Thank you
Sun shining on the motifs in your fabric will be a lovely touch. Sweet quilt qith this splash of sun
Thank you, now to get it finished.
Blue and yellow work so well together, and you did a great job of making snowscapes summery.
Thank you
Great minds think alike….I have also gone with sunflowers. Lovely background fabrics with the pop of yellow in the corner.
Oh, I can’t wait to see what you made.
The sunflowers look great on the quilt! Great idea!
Thanks Gail
Hi Denise! Well, your sunflowers are the bomb, I think. Not only is sun in the name but they absolutely scream summer, and sun, and HOT weather. You don’t see those lovely black-eyed-Susans bursting forth in January unless you live down under. Nice job! {{Hugs}} ~smile~ Roseanne
You are always so kind, thank you. Hope you, Sue and the littles are doing good.
Denise the blue of the winter themed fabrics and bright yellows of your fun sunflowers just make the whole quilt work! I love it! Thank you for sharing ?
Thank you Carol. I may have to embellish it a little more. Being sick and running out of time sucks.
It sure does, especially when you are creating a beauty like this one. ?
Those are beautiful blues in batiks and adding the flowers was a great idea. They are all so pretty! Blues and yellows look so lovely together. I need to do more machine embroidery so thank you for the inspiration, Denise!
I fell in love with the machine embroidery applique, they are so easy. Thank you very much for putting together another great hop.
Beautiful quilt! I always love the blue and yellow combination. Thanks so much for sharing!
Thank you. Hopefully my yellow stash will grow and I use more.
I love batiks in any color and any print. There is something just so beautiful about using them. Sunflowers, along with Echinacea flowers are my 2 favorite flowers, and I love the blue and yellow combination too, so that top is a beauty!
Thank you, I agree on the blue and yellow. The combo always pulls me in.
I love blue and yellow together and rarely use it. Great sunflowers!
Thanks Vicki
Beautiful! I love the blues of the top and adding those sunflowers to the quilt after it’s done will be just the right touch. Thanks for sharing!
Thank you
Your quilt is lovely and the sunflower embellishments are a great idea!
Thank you
I love your applique sunflowers. What a fun way to dress up a quilt. It goes without saying your IB fabrics are gorgeous!
Lol, yes I absolutely love this collection.
I love the yellow sunflowers on the blue quilt. Yellow does always look perfect next to blue.
It is a classic combo, right up there next to red and white in my book.
