All of the products shown in this post were given to me as an 2020 Island Batik Ambassador in box 1 to fulfill my role.
Please join me in welcoming back the returning Island Batik Ambassadors and welcome in the new. You can find a link to the 2020 IBA’s at the bottom of this post or simply by clicking LINK at the top of your screen. Thank you Island Batik, it is a honor to represent you and share your fabulous batik fabric for a 2nd year in a row. Aurifil Thread, Hobbs Batting and AccuQuilt are returning this year as industry partners and they have not disappointed this quilter. This year we are welcoming Schmetz Needles which is a great addition because let’s face it, we couldn’t do what we do without needles. I’d like to thank all industry partners who have provided the products you are about to see.
You can click on each photo to be taken to the Island Batik website showing a swatch of each fabric in the collection.
smooch
Smooch 10″ squares and coordinating fabric. Smooch was designed by Kathy Engle. Precuts are available now. Yardage will be shipped to stores in May.
rayon scarves
The scarves are really lovely and feel so soft again your skin. They are available all year.
moo milk and rayon yardage
The Moo Milk is a Foundation Neutral batik. These are fabulous paired with other batik fabric. The swirls in the Moo Milk and dots in their other Neutrals are so softly shaded that it doesn’t distract from your main focus fabrics. You will see what I mean when it’s time to share my February finish. In the Feb. challenge quilt I am pairing Moo Milk with the white solid for the background, much like I did with Sprinkles and white in the hexi wall hanging a few weeks ago. The fabric on the right is IB rayon. Stormy Horizon. Last year we also received rayon yardage but sadly I never got around to using it. Perhaps this year.
Basics, neutrals, blenders and solids
These are available all year. There are now a total of 14 in the solids collection and are of the same quality batik that you are used to from IB. More solids shown below.
mesa verde
Mesa Verde designed by Kathy Engle. Pre-cuts are available now, yardage will ship to stores in February. I will be featuring this coolection in the February Blog Hop. I have no words worthy enough to express how much I have loved working with Mesa Verde. This collection is definitely me.
forget me not
Forget Me Not designed by Kathy Engle. Pre-cuts available now, yardage will ship to stores in February. There is an idea rolling around in my head for using this collection.
stash builders
Stash builders by Island Batik contain 5 rolls of 4 different prints 5″ x wof. Approximately 3 yards per pack. These are great for applique or scrappy quilts or cut for 2 1/2″ strips. We received these last year as well and In one of the packages I received some animal print that I wasn’t sure how I would ever use them. You can see them in the Winter Blues Blog Hop post last week, they were used for pine cones. While I can’t say I would have purchased the animal print separately, because they were included in one of the rolls I was forced to step outside of my comfort zone. When I downloaded the cardinal block pattern I knew instantly I would be using them.
solids
Three more of the batik solids. Unintentional my favorite is sitting on top. I love the gray.
AccuQuilt sent me the Chimney Sweep BOB. This Block on Board (BOB) die cuts one 2-color 10” block in one pass through your AccuQuilt fabric cutter. It is compatible with the GO! Baby, GO!, GO! Big, and Studio. This is one of my favorite quilt blocks. Now to decide which collection to use to showcase this block in March, hmm.
Schmetz Chrome Microtex Needles and Super Non-Stick Needles. I can’t say I have ever used Schmetz Needles but I know a lot of my readers and other quilters who do.
Aurifil Color Builders. Color Builders are a great way to build your thread collection in coordinating colors. The 50wt thread comes 3 spools per box. Pictured are the Pompeii Red and Florence Brown. Click on Aurifil Color Builders above to see additional collections they offer.
I will for sure. The Feb challenge quilt is waiting to be quilted and I loved working with the Mesa Verde. Not sure what I play with for Match yet. Thanks for stopping by.
Green with ENVY! I want it ALL! Sorry that just slipped out. I actually thought for a few seconds that I should sign up to be an ambassador too, but then reality hit me with a fat quarter. I know that I wouldn’t have the time and energy to put into it. I’ll just have to live vicariously through you. Thanks for sharing 🙂
LOL and add, “And I want it now”. This was definitely a great box because I loved everything in it. The Chimney Sweep from AccuQuilt is one I chose the SAS over last year though I really wanted the Chimney Sweep. It is one of my favorite blocks, 2nd to only flying geese.
Hi Denise! Wow, a lot of fabric, thread, batting, and die goodness in that box. I use and like Schmetz needles often. I’d be hard pressed to pick a favorite fabric pattern but those solids sure do look fab. I’m looking forward to seeing all your creativity put to work with these fun fabrics. ~smile~ Roseanne
It is by far my most favorite collection. It probably isn’t for everyone but will be a huge hit for those who love working with earth tones. IMO there aren’t enough pretty earth tone fabrics available.
Wow I sure love the Smooch line! We are very blessed ambassadors aren’t we? 🙂
We certainly are. I haven’t decided how I will use Smooch.
Such lovely batiks! Can’t wait to see what you make with them. Thanks for sharing on Wednesday Wait Loss.
Thank you for hosting.
Yum! Can’t wait to see what you make with these.
Enjoy creating with these wonderful collections!

Great stash! I love the moo milk and the solids you got!
Me too, the bright yellow is something I am considering buying a bolt. The Moo Milk is my favorite neutral so far.

Thanks Roseanne. The solids are exactly the same as their print fabric, they are really nice. The Schmetz Needles, my review coming soon 🙂
Thanks for linking up this week, Denise! ~smile~ Roseanne
Welcome. I hope to have a something soon that is not secret sewing. With all that going on I don’t have much content to share.
As always, the Island Batik fabrics are gorgeous.
They are and I absolutely love the Mesa Verde which you can see during the hop in Feb. I also have a project planned for April with the remnants.
Love the Smooch collection with the pop of pink in there. Looking forward to seeing what you create with all the goodies.
I haven’t really thought about Smooch. The first I pulled to work with is the Mesa Verde and I could use it for every project and be happy.
I love Mesa Verde, too! The colors are just so amazing in this collection. You got a lot of great goodies in your box!
