Island Batik box 2 opening

Welcome! Today is the day I finally get to share the contents in the second Island Batik box of the 2022 Ambassador year. The has been a great year full of new challenges and fun blog hops so be sure to check out their blog . There is also a shop locator at the top of the page.
Grab a snack, prop your feet and stay a while.
You can follow other Ambassadors to see what they are up to, just click the logo below to be taken to their website links.
Tree of Life AccuQuilt die

AccuQuilt sent all of the Ambassadors their new Tree of Life BOB die that finishes at 14″ to be used in the Christmas in July challenge.
You can see my first post here.
Studio 180 ruler

Deb Tuckers Studio 180 V Block ruler looks interesting but you’ll have to wait until September to see more on this.
Prairie Spirit Alpacas pressing mat

New as an industry partner this year is Prairie Spirit Alpacas from Millarville, AB. They sent us an alpaca/wool pressing mat, I’ll be using it soon. Check out their site if you like to knit and crochet, they have more than just mats.
Island Batik fabric

Island Batik solids are great to use for backing or background fabric or combination of all three in your quilt top. Gray, white and black are included in every box along with Stash Builders. The Stash Builders are like your scrap drawer except there is almost 3 yards of 5″ strips by width of fabric neatly rolled and packaged.
There are actually 14 solids, not just 3 as I said above.

Half yard cuts of fabric from Island Batik Foundations. There are solids, blenders, basics and neutrals, the best part is they are available throughout the year. If you run out of a particular fabric you don’t have to stress too bad about finding more. If your local shop does not have them they can be found online.

Flourish designed by Kathy Engle, half yard cuts. This is a spring 2022 collection that will be shipping to shops in September. 2 yards each of Dotts- Neutral Pearl and Floral Leaves Brown. This is the most beautiful brown I have seen in fabric. Even a sister who likes bright, colorful, blingy (is that even a word) fabric loves it.

Oh my, Silver Canyon designed by Kathy Engle. This is also from the spring/summer collection and shipping to shops August/September.

Surprise! Everyone loves a surprise and I am excited about taking a sneak peak. You’ll be seeing this collection at the end of the year.
ByAnnie pattern kit bundle

Under Cover from By Annie. We were allowed to choose one of her patterns that included an add on video and I chose Under Cover. It is a sewing machine cover pattern that add a little warmth to white sewing room.
Hobbs Batting assortment

Hobbs Batting is another industry partner and is always so generous with their batting.
Heirloom® Premium 80/20 Fusible Cotton/Poly Blend Batting Strips. These are great! Last year I used them for a table runner, placemat set, my first ever. The fusible side made turning the seam allowance and folding the strips so easy. I’m adding these to the other 2 packages I have saved for a large project.

Tuscany Cotton Wood batting by Hobbs is one of my favorites to use for baby quilts. It is so light and defines the quilting beautifully.

Heirloom® Premium 100% Natural Cotton with Scrim. This is my favorite for everything else…

unless I am quilting dark or black favorite. In this case the Heirloom® Premium 80/20 Black Cotton/Poly Blend is a must have. White batting with black fabric, you end up with all those white cotton fly away’s landing on your top and even if your quilt machine’s timing is flawless you still end up with white pokies.

Thermore® was completely new to me last year. It is definitely thin and recently I used some scrap pieces for in the hoop applique where I wanted a little depth to my applique.
Thank you
