New month, new projects

Happy November, thank you thank you the election is almost over. After months of 5, maybe 6 campaign commercials in a row I’ve come to realize how raunchy politicians have become over the years. Fortunately the St Louis area doesn’t see many presidential commercials but we sure get a lot of Illinois and Missouri election related political adds.

Does anyone else receive several campaign flyers in the mail daily?

Sewing

Now that’s what’s important here. November is a blog hop month for Island Batik and the Ambassadors will be sharing summer collections this month. The collections should be in shops next month so check them out and plan ahead.

The collection I received is Coco Cabana designed by Kathy Engle.

You could almost split this into two projects which I wish I had thought of before the sewing began, I kinda still did. In the photo above the top row of fabrics are from the foundations collection which are always available. The next three rows are Coco Cabana.

My day to share is November 10th and I have 2 lap quilts to show you. Here is a sneak peak.

And a sneak peak of fabric I chose for a second quilt, lovely fall colors.

AccuQuilt

Another project for this month is for AccuQuilt. They are updating some of the quilts in their gallery with more modern fabric and asked if I would be interested in making one of them. Of course.

They sent 15 dies which I will be sharing with you throughout the month however you will have to view the finished project on the AccuQuilt blog, will let you know when.

The stack above is what they sent to me and includes dies for applique, strips and patchwork. More details to come on each die as I start the quilt.

  1. We gave up our cable and local tv service this summer. Miss some of the shows, but happy to not view political ads! We’ve received very little political mail this year, but I do keep getting flyers addressed to me for retirement communities. I’m pretty sure I’m at least 20 years from that! Weird.

The fabrics are interesting. The name makes me think of Copacabana (Barry Manilow). 😀 The pops of bright blue are unexpected. I look forward, as always, to seeing what you come up with.

    1. Lol, AARP sends me something at least once a week. The song, yes that has been on mind a lot since this collection arrived.

    1. Next week on the 10th I’ll be sharing what I made. Just took one quilt off the frame and wishing I had cut my backing for the 2nd.

  2. Hi Denise! It looks like you have a busy month lined up with lots of fun projects. I agree with Kat that the colors are just fantastic – Island Batik never disappoints. ~smile~ Roseanne

    1. Right, I really love this collection because you could truly go in 2 different directions. The earth tones or the blue/orange. Thank you for stopping by.

  3. Wow! What a great summer collection and ALL MY FAVORITE COLORS ! You received a fabulous collection of accuquilt dies also. Can’t wait to see your project reveals.
