Linky Party-Put your foot down #3
Welcome to Put your foot down #3
Wow, you all are the best, thank you for linking up with me last week. I hope you’ve had a productive quilty week and have more great content to share today.
What’s under my foot? and finish
The quilt for the QOV blog hop in complete and awarded but you’ll have to come back July 1st to see the finish. Until I signed up for the hop I’d always assumed the quilts needed to be sent to QOV to be awarded but that is not the case. You can award it and send the recipients info to them to place on file. That way a soldier does not receive 2.
Also under my needle is my Island Batik September challenge. I had some great Crystal Ball strips left from the August challenge and decided I would finish them off. If you’ve not seen the Crystal Ball you should check them out. You can see the line here.
Sneak peak
Fabric storage
The newest additions to my sewing room. Prior to becoming an Island Batik Ambassador I was very happy with my single stash drawer. Then I discovered a quilt store in my area but only after they began their going out of business sale. Needless to say it was time for a change, so I went to the office supply store and purchased 2 of these. 2 drawer lateral file cabinets. My shoulders are still sore from assembly. Do they not make anything solid wood anymore?
Because I did not have legal size hanging file folders I added the hardware to hang the smaller, letter size folders. See below how I folded yardage. Click the thumbnails for a larger view.
Thread storage
Dh made a cone holder to fit inside one of the drawers in the second cabinet. Even though I always put a thread net on my spools, when they are thrown in a drawer you still have a thread mess. Unfortunately until now I had a single small drawer for my thread and it was always a mess.
He cut a piece of half inch plywood to fit the drawer then carefully placed holes in the wood with a drill press . Cut dowel rod to 4″ lengths and inserted into the plywood. If you would like some spacing info for the holes let me know and I can measure and post the dims.
So, not only do I have additional room for fabric stash I also have additional room for more thread. I’d like to purchase two move of the lateral cabinets to line up under my cutting station. They are the bomb!
NOW…Let’s see some of the shares from last week.
Rosanne from Home Sewn by Us shared this great quilty project, I love the quilting.

What’s under your foot?
The rules are simple. Any current fiber art project is welcome, just please link back to my page (or grab the html code below) somewhere in your post.
Visit as many links as time allows. Most of all, have fun and make new friends.
Thank you so much to those who linked up with me last week and I hope you didn’t mind the advertisement that Inlinkz placed in the thumbnails. Their free version adds advertisement.
This week I am testing Linky Tools for free and hopefully I will have a better sense as to which I prefer after this linkup.
Did you mind the advertising links that were added to the two previous linky parries with Inlinkz? Or, do you like linky tools better? Please let me know in the comments.
Fantastic storage ideas! That cone holder is genius. Lucky you!
I know, he is so handy. Last week he made a spool holder out of wood and a welding rod, lol.
Thank you for the storage tips. I like your linky party, and for me it’s the same what system you prefer.
Thanks, I hope you’ll come back every week.
Wow! Your fabric storage is so organized! I’m really impressed with your system. I’d probably need like 100 of those file cabinets, though ~ LOL! I need to tame my stash.
I really don’t have much of a stash because I am limited on my storage space. If i can figure out a way to support the door for my cutting station I will get 2 more of these. Right now I have an interior door laying on top of an old sewing cabinet and 3 drawer plastic cabinet for their height which is perfect for when I am cutting. It also doubles as an mega ironing board for pressing quilt tops or large pieces of fabric. As you can see from the drawer with the bolt of fabric they are spacious. The hanging fabric is 20+ yards on the right side so it may hold more than you think.
Great storage system! Thank you for featuring my hexies 😉
You’re welcome, hexies are one of favorites. They are like that bright color that always draws your attention.
