Put your foot down #7

Welcome to Put your foot down #7. I hope you have had a productive quilty week with fabulous photos to share today.

What’s under my foot?

Last week I shared a sample bag I was working on. It wasn’t until the photo was uploaded into the post that I realized there were blocks peeking out from under the bag. They were no secret, I just wasn’t ready to share them yet.  So what were they? A stack of 29 embroidered Sunbonnet Sue blocks. When we cleaned out my in-laws home I found this stack in my mil sewing room closet. They laid dormant in my closet until almost a month ago when I pulled them out to show my oldest sister. All 29 have the same stamped design with the dresses being in 5 different colors.

The give-away

Put on your thinking caps and tell me how you would set these blocks in a quilt if they were yours. You can  leave a comment telling me what you would do or link up a Sunbonnet quilt you’ve  made in the past or present. You could also link up a drawing of your layout idea. Entries will be accepted through July 10th with the winner being announced on July 11th.  There will be no Put your foot down linky party on July 4th. The winner will receive a pdf copy, their choice of one pattern I offer in my Etsy shop.

This linky party will remain active until July 10th. So there’s plenty of time to dig out those old Sue finishes. This isn’t just about Sue so please share whatever it is you are working on.

Last weeks shares

Last week DONNALEEQ shared her experience with fabric painting.

Fellow Island Batik Ambassador Gene Black Creative Soul shared his bluebirds last week. I’m eyeing those flowers though.

Vicki’s Crafts and Quilting, another IBA shared this table runner that would be a perfect addition to a Super Bowl party. Guess what, its for sale in her Etsy shop.

  1. Hi Denise! I had to dig into the archives for an old post of our very first mini quilt that was made years ago. Sunbonnet Sue is and always has been one of our favorite designs, and she seems timeless. Plus she is always into something different. What sweet little cross stitch blocks you have. 29 of them – that’s an unusual number so you’ll have to use a filler of some sort. I can’t wait to see where these precious blocks go! ~smile~ Roseanne

    1. Maybe she messed up on 1 block, I don’t know. It’s been a long time but I’ve made a few applique Sue’s, one I alternated Sue and butterflies. Thank you for digging up that post and I will go check it out.
