Put your foot down #85 and pattern giveaway

WOW what a crazy month already and I wish I could share it all with you. Welcome to Put your foot down. Yesterday I shared my finish for the “Create for a Cause” Blog Hop with Island Batik, you can view the post here. The full hop schedule with links to all the IBA blogs can be viewed here.

My cause was Quilts of Valor and I awarded the finish to my hs friend Darrell. Even though he had worked all day and hadn’t been home yet he graciously allowed me to take a photo of him.

My quilt pattern Spring Tulips (right) will be in the new Pieced Flower Quilts available February 12th at select locations and Annie’s Catalog website. I love the Forget Me Not collection by Island Batik, unfortunately it’s no longer available unless you are lucky enough to find some left in your lqs. However, Buttercup also designed by Kathy Engle is a close match and someone told me MSQ has some in stock.

Winds of Change paper pieced quilt

winds of change

Finally, it seems a long time coming. Winds of Change is a paper pieced quilt pattern I designed for the Island Batik Starry Night Collection designed by Kathy Engle. Its a glorious collection of blues that I paired with Rice for my background. Starry Night is shipping to stores this month so be sure to ask for it at your lqs. Thank you Island Batik for the opportunity and providing the fabric needed to complete this project.

I also have to give a shout out to Hobbs Batting, I used their 100% Cotton Batting that I love. Also to Aurifil Thread which I used for piecing, 40wt.

Winds of Change is a paper pieced pattern with NO curved piecing or Y seams. There are 8 sets of 2 pages that will either need to be taped or glued together (i prefer using a glue stick) prior to cutting.

Winds of Change pattern is available in my Etsy Shop and through Payhip. But you could win a free copy today through Feb 9th. Link up your current finish or works in progress to be entered into the drawing. Winners will be chosen at random and announced publicly on Put your foot down #86 and will also receive an email from me on Feb 10th so be sure you leave a correct email address.

Open to all who link up and have a valid email address regardless of location. Winners will receive a pdf copy of the pattern.

So there you have 3 of my secret sewing projects that couldn’t be shared until now and you’re probably looking for something more current. Well…sorry to disappoint, I am working on another quilt for an upcoming publication that I cannot share yet.

The Island Batik Create for a Cause Blog Hop is still going on so make sure you visit the link for the hop schedule above or click on the logo below so you can enter their giveaway.
